A website dedicated to cycling in and around Reno.
This is not an organized bicycle, running, or tri club. This is an attempt to grow the cycling/outdoor community in and around Reno. There are no route slips, ride leaders or ride sweepers. Every rider is an equal and nothing is expected from any participant.
Although this calendar was originally going to be primarily for cycling, other outdoor activities can also be posted here. Such as running, tri-training, hiking, swimming, you get the idea. If there is an activity you want added just let us know. If you're good at designing logo’s we need one, no pay, just glory!
Posted rides may reference a “sync” location and time however this is only meant to give riders a rough indication of where and when to be in order to sync up with the group as well as provide a rough distance and duration of the route. Everyone is encouraged to submit ride routes via Garmin connect, or admin@RenoRidez.com. Also, additional meeting places can be added to the calendar as needed.
It is recommended that every rider be properly prepared for every ride by bringing appropriate amounts of supplies such as but not limited to: tools, tubes (which do not leak), CO2/pump, food/nutrition, water, identification, cash, etc. On rare occasions the group can break into different paced sub-groups during a ride but the main guideline is that no rider should ride or change a flat alone but this cannot be guaranteed.
I fully realize and appreciate the dangers of riding a bicycle on open public roads and fully assume the risks associated with this activity including, by way of example but not limitation, the dangers of collision with pedestrians, vehicles, other cyclists, and fixed or moving objects; the dangers arising from surface hazards, pot holes, broken roads, equipment failure, inadequate safety equipment, and weather conditions; and the possibility of serious physical and/or mental trauma or injury associated with bicycle related mishaps. I understand that potentially dangerous situations may arise during rides which are beyond the control of RenoRidez.com. Knowing these risks involved, I nevertheless agree to assume those risks.
Some have asked why they need to provide an e-mail address. The calendar e-mails you when new events are posted, that’s it. Your e-mail address is not being sold, and no advertising will be sent to from the use of this calendar.
